Airmen from the Hawaii Air National Guard participated in Patriot North 19 training exercise for the first time as role players during numerous scenarios. Instead of reacting to an emergency situation, they were the ones first responders were reacting to. Patriot North took place at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center [CRTC], Camp Douglas, and Fort McCoy, Tomah, Wis. from July 16-18. Members of the 154th SFS formed the bulk of the Hawaii team and were supplemented by Airmen from the 154th Maintenance Squadron, 154th Force Support Squadron and the 154th Public Affairs Office. The Airmen played a wide range of roles: from being injured civilians that needed medical attention, to looters who needed to be apprehended, to even being hostel protestors.
