USAG Japan Change of Command Ceremony 2019:


Narration:
The U.S. Army Garrison Japan change-of-command ceremony, between outgoing commander Col. Phillip K. Gage and incoming commander Col. Thomas R. Matelski, was held July 17th on Camp Zama.

Col. Gage departs after his two-year assignment as commander and will move on to San Antonio, Texas.

Col. Matelski began his military career in 1991 in the Army Reserves. He has been assigned to numerous positions in various units in the Army Chemical field. He also served as the strategic plans officer at Special Operations Command – Central, and as civil affairs team leader with the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade. Matelski comes to U.S. Army Garrison Japan from his previous assignment as director of the Commander’s Action Group for the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
