On June 8th, the second Run the Runway was held at the Westover Airport with a turnout of 400 runners and 700 visitors during the day to see the 208 antique cars and about 10 static aircraft, including a C-5M from the base.
The Galaxy Community Council, Greater Chicopee Chamber of Commerce and the Westover Airport sponsored the event and were very happy with this years turn out.

Here are some of the video highlights from the event. A special thanks to the Massachusetts State Police airwing stationed at the Westover Airport.

During the SUPER UTA in June a number of training excercises took place around base. I got a chance to see what was happening in Dog Patch as the civil engineers, services personnel, personelists from Force Support Squadron, command staff, and aircraft maintainers; trained in a bare base scenario.
A number of scenarios where played out giving all participants training in a bare base operation, including the ability to survive during a chemical attack, parameter security, feeding and keeping the Citizen Airmen hydrated.

You might have been wondering why there were wounded airman in the parking lot of the clinc, the 439th Aeromedical Medicine Squadron was conducting a MASS Casualty Excercise on May tenth as part of their hands on training...

The Westover Top Three organization made a visit to the Chicopee Boys and Girls Club on June 11th with a donation of A thousand dollars for there support of the community.

The Chicopee Boys and Girls club is still offering day care service to Airmen on UTA weekends, contact Airman and Family Readiness at 557-3027 for all the details.

You can see the individual WNN50 stories on our youtube channel and faceBook page. If you're on the base network they can also be accessed on the Z drive, dig down to the PA PUBLIC folder and you'll find them archived there.
