Combat medics from the 1st Battallion, 221st Cavalry Regiment, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team practice realistic medical scenarios, called injects, in order to improve the unit's ability to respond and care for battlefield injuries. The training is staged to be as realistic as possible using fake blood, real medical instruments and the use of amputee actors to create an atmosphere similar to the battlefield.
The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is training at the National Training Center May 24 - June 20 to prepare for its wartime mission. The rotation builds unit and Soldier proficiency to provide combatant commanders with a trained and ready force capable of fighting and winning our nation's wars.
