This site is a memorial honoring the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers who landed near the village by mistake.
It also honors the three hundred U.S. soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division and 90th Infantry Division died liberating Gourbesville in June 1944.
The final scene of this BRoll is Marjorie Gavin, daughter of Gen. James M. Gavin, former 82nd Airborne Division commander from Aug. 8, 1944- 26 Mar. 1948.
