TULSA, Okla. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District dams are functioning as designed during the spring 2019 flood event in Oklahoma and Kansas. The district is working around the clock to maintain the flood pools at the same percentages throughout its system of dams by either storing or releasing water in conjunction with each other in accordance with the district’s water control manuals.

Oologah Lake on the Verdigris River in Rogers County, Oklahoma, was able to step down its release from 55,000 to 50,000 cubic feet per second June 1.

Tulsa District engineers and hydrologists continue to monitor dams to ensure they operate as designed and will provide updates as the situation changes to ensure public safety.
