Guardian Response 19, a homeland emergency response exercise, officially kicked off with a first day of activity which required Hollywood-style practical effects and mannequins to help the Soldiers have a realistic training environment.
1- 2. Smoke pours out of a van while fire burns inside, creating a realistic disaster situation.
3. A bicycle rests at the base of a street sign.
4 - 5. Rubble smokes in order to make a more realistic emergency training environment.
6 - 7. Lifelike mannequins are used as victims of a nuclear disaster.
8. Members of the 3rd Battalion, 309th Regiment, Combat Support/Combat Service Support, place a mannequin in a building which will later be searched by emergency responders looking for victims of the mock disaster.
9 - 10. A mannequin lies under some rubble waiting for emergency responders.
