    ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Chief Petty Officer Brad Fitzpatrick, a rescue swimmer stationed at Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, rescues people and pets affected by rising floodwaters caused by Hurricane Florence, Sept. 19, 2018.

    Fitzpatrick worked with other aircrews through the day in extreme conditions, encountering submerged barbed wire fences, floating fire-ant beds and chest-deep water to save lives.
