A BeeLiner C-17 Globemaster III from 21st Airlift Squadron out of Travis Air Force Base, California lands and takes off from Fort Hunter Liggett's dirt runway, March 18, 2019.

C-17 Globemaster III and C-130 Hercules aircraft from several installations across the country gave Schoonover Army Airfield a work-out the week of March 18, 2019. Schoonover's dirt airfield is one of only a few in the country that allows Air Force and Marine pilots to keep up their flight certifications for landing and taking off from the dirt air strip. A ground crew inspects the runway after each turnaround and keeps the pilots apprised of wind speed and direction.
