The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (GAFB) is awarded to and worn by German service members of all ranks and may also be earned by U.S. service members and worn subject to uniform regulations. In addition to a basic fitness test, service members must also complete a ruck march, timed swim, and marksmanship demonstration.
41 Task Force Alamo National Guard Soldiers, assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa attempted to complete the challenge. 33 of the Soldiers were successfully awarded the medal.
