“The thing that I’m really excited about is the way we’re taking advantage of the multi-role capabilities of the MQ-9 like the one behind me. It started out as a reconnaissance asset, then we armed them, and we used them for primarily missions where we’re going after high-value targets but were also tasking the airplane now in close air support. So they’re going out and doing the same mission that the A-10, the F-15 or the F-16 would do and they’re also learning to operate together as two-ships. Where we’d always fly the MQ-9 by itself, now we’ll fly two of them out there together and one can watch our for the other one, they can take turns keeping a target in their eyes, they’re able to employ simultaneously against targets. So there is a lot of exciting things going to learn how to maximize the ability of the airplane by trying new tactics.”
