Soldiers from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, and local Veterans visited with elementary school students at the Ohio Street School in Watertown, New York, on November 8 as part of a Veterans Day celebration. Students first greeted the Soldiers with an assembly that included students speaking about the history of Veterans Day, recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing patriotic songs, such as the Army Song. After the assembly, some students were paired with Soldiers for a one-on-one snack session. Students then led Soldiers to their classrooms where they were read stories, had a question and answer session, and even got to try on military gear. This is the third year that Fort Drum Soldiers attend the school’s Veterans Day celebration and is a rewarding experience for Soldiers as much as for the kids.
