PORTLAND, Oregon – The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing hosted an honorary commander’s induction ceremony, October 26, at the Portland Air National Guard Base.
The honorary commander program is a tradition in the Air National Guard that pairs local community partners to units and Airmen from the Portland Air National Guard Base. The incoming honorary commander will serve a two-year term in which they have the opportunity to look inside the gates of the Portland Air National Guard Base, gain insight into the 142nd Fighter Wing mission, and share the Air Guard story with their peers and community. Each of the honorary commanders were selected for this program due to their leadership in both their professional and personal lives.
During the ceremony, each of the five new honorary commanders swore an oath as part of their induction. The new honorary commanders are as follows:
- Mr. Curtis Robinhold, Executive Director for the Port Of Portland
- Assistant Chief Ryan Lee from the Portland Police Bureau
- Mr. Joe Marsico, Vice President, Chief Security Officer for Nike
- Mr. Greg Moawad, Vice President Campus Safety for Oregon Health Sciences University
- Mr. Ben Berry, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Bonneville Power Administration
