Operational Highlight: Hurricane Florence Hurricane Florence brought damaging winds and record-breaking rain to the state of North Carolina. Coast Guard members across the nation deployed in support of search and recovery efforts. To date, more than 1,100 people have been rescued or assisted, and more than 400 pets have been saved. Additionally, Coast Guard members have helped clear roads for access, help restore electricity, reopened key ports and waterways, and replaced navigational aids.
