A Coast Guard shallow-water response boat team conducting search and rescue operations transported a new father who had been with his wife and newborn child from the hospital back to his home, Sept. 17, 2018.
He had left important supplies and his two dogs at home prior to the storm because he had to abruptly leave when his wife went into labor. He asked the Coast Guard crew if they could help him retrieve those supplies to bring back to his newborn and to rescue his dogs.
Coast Guard crews from across the U.S. are located with personnel from state, federal and local agencies for Hurricane Florence. Teams are deployed by local emergency operation centers for search and rescue, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure rebuilding missions.
