Engineering units with the South Carolina Army National Guard build walls along the primary roadway artery into Myrtle Beach, S.C. to potentially stave off the rising flood waters that threaten the area along the Waccamaw Causeway, Conway S.C. on Sept. 20, 2019.
Comprised of 3 miles of Hesco barriers, the roadway is vital to the region as it is the primary path to one of only four level 1 trauma centers in the state.
More than 120,000 bag bags alone have been put in place. Flood waters are expected to crest this coming Tuesday.(U.S. Air National Guard video by Master Sgt. Chris Botzum)
