A MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter takes off from the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to conduct aerial assessment of coastal areas affected by Hurricane Florence in support of the Joint Forces Land Component. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
