Keeping with their mission of sustaining the warfighter, the first theater sustainment command received the first two “golden” heavy equipment trucks, also known as HETS as they returned from Red River Army Depot to the Port of Shuaiba Kuwait, September 11.
Interview: CW5 Steven Dewey, 1st TSC Material Readiness Branch
Their arrival and transfer marks the end of a six-month reset process that’s cost-saving, and beneficial to warfighters. The complete refurbishing of the vehicles and new C - Kit armor provide soldiers with reliability and added protection from improvised explosive devices.
Extensive analysis went into the decision to reset the equipment. Looking at the cost to ship trucks from theater to the army depot versus maintaining them through local repairs, the decision was clear.
From Camp Arifjan Kuwait, I’m Sergeant First Class Lisa Rodriguez-Presley.
