Marines, local chefs, and culinary students gather for a cooking competition at Johnson and Wales University- Charlotte during the Marine Corps’ Marine Week in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 7, 2018. During the event, the participants competed to create the best dish they could from a required set of ingredients that included Meals Ready to Eat, the staple field rations of American service members. The Marine Corps Recruiting Command planned unique engagements to interact with important components of the Charlotte Population, looking to share its message of opportunity with a diverse audience of people who in many cases had little previous exposure to Marine culture.
