The 167th Airlift Wing held an active shooter exercise at the Martinsburg, W.Va., air base, Aug. 30, 2018. 167th AW members with security forces, the fire department and the medical group joined forces with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office to stop a lone gunman who was tracked through a building. Once the threat was neutralized, all victims were aided. Security Forces member Staff Sgt. Cody McCarthy spoke about his experience. Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Chief David Wilson talked about why this active shooter training is important.
