Each year, U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers and families from the 303rd Military Police Company gather to celebrate a "Happy Alive Day" picnic in Stockbridge, Michigan, marking the anniversary of a Taliban attack they survived on their base in Kandahar, Afghanistan, June 19, 2012. The Soldiers organize the picnic each year to celebrate life and to show that unity in the military brotherhood is stronger than the damage caused by the enemies who attacked them. Twelve Soldiers from the unit received the Purple Heart from wounds sustained in that attack. (U.S. Army Reserve video by Master Sgt. Michel Sauret)
