VICENZA, Italy -- Sky Soldiers throughout the Brigade celebrated the memory of those Paratroopers who paid the ultimate price. Some ran for 24 hours, others ran 17.3 miles, and even more took part in a 5K race together with family members.
Aside from racing, it was a busy day across Del Din featuring family-friendly activities like the Gunfighter Gym and the Grand Opening of the newest USO. Gold Star families and local dignitaries from the Vicenza area came out in full force to support the effort.
There was even a living National Italian Treasure walking among us in the form of Ms. Paola Del Din. If you don't know her history, you should! Along with her brother, she's a WWII hero. We should be proud to live and work on a base that bears her name.
