180724-A-JX987-1001 HONOLULU (July 24, 2018) MEDCOM and Tripler Army Medical Center team up to test the intricate logistics of the transfer of patients and coordination of medical rescue resources in a catastrophic event. The purpose of the full scale exercise is to effectively respond to a natural disaster by synchronizing efforts with government and private sector agencies statewide. The Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise give the medical center an opportunity to test their effectiveness. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world's oceans.
