The Coast Guard welcomed its new senior leadership in recent change of command and change of watch ceremonies. Adm. Karl Schultz, Adm. Charles Ray and Master Chief Petty Officer Jason Vanderhaden took the helm.
Recognizing longevity at sea
The Coast Guard also recognized the officer and enlisted persons with the earliest designation as a permanent cutterman with the title “Ancient Mariner.” Cmdr. Stephen Matadobra became the 15th Gold Ancient Mariner, and Master Chief Petty Officer Matthew Coppola became the 13th Silver Ancient Mariner. US Coast Guard Video
