The Air Force SBIR/STTR program have developed a Zinc Nickel replacement for Cadmium, which has been used on aircraft landing gear to fight corrosion, but that is also carcinogenic.
As a result of this work there are currently 2,000 landing gear components flying with zinc nickel on them. ES3 have also plated components for Boeing and now Boeing, UTCAS, Bell Helicopters and other companies currently have their own zinc nickel plating lines using this technology.
