On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, Hurricane María made landfall in Puerto Rico. The Category 4 hurricane is the strongest hurricane to affect the island in more than 80 years. The President granted a Major Disaster Declaration, which allowed survivors and the government of Puerto Rico to apply for FEMA assistance. In the first 150 days since the event, FEMA in collaboration with state, municipal government and federal partners work hand in hand to help Puerto Rico recover from this disaster.
