Acrylic painting depicting an aerial view of Iwo Jima, a volcanic island with an area of approximately eight sq. mi. which was the location of the infamous battle between the United States of America and the Empire of Japan during World War II. February 19th marks the 73rd anniversary of the battle of Iwo Jima, which lasted from Feb. 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945. By the end of the battle there were 6,821 Americans dead and 19,189 wounded.
