The newest episode of the Coast Guard Paratus Report is now live! The Paratus Report is a workforce news program focused at keeping Coast Guard members informed of what’s happening throughout their Coast Guard. The program is scheduled to air twice a month on the official Coast Guard YouTube channel, and right here on Coast Guard All Hands.
Operation RENEW
New England and New York Coast Guard crews break ice every year as part of Operation Reliable Energy for Northeast Winters. However, this year is a little more challenging. Long spells of sub-freezing temperatures have created an icy problem, requiring every Coast Guard vessel with ice breaking capabilities in the area to answer the call.
California mudslides
California-based aircrews rescued or assisted 38 people and 15 pets following the Santa Barbara mudslides. Marine Safety Detachment Santa Barbara crews also removed hazardous materials along the shoreline and prevented pollution from entering the waterways.
Welcome home Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast
The Steadfast crew recently returned from the Eastern Pacific where they interdicted more than $180 million worth of cocaine. They also rescued three fishermen stranded 300 miles off the Mexican coast. Learn more in this press release.
