The Military Committee, NATO’s highest Military Authority, is meeting in Chiefs of Defence (CHODs) Session on 16 and 17 January 2018, at NATO HQ. General Petr Pavel, Chairman of the Military Committee, will preside over the sessions.
The Chiefs of Defence will discuss the challenging security environment on NATO’s southern flank and the Alliance’s contribution to its stabilization. The CHODs with their Resolute Support counterparts will review the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and discuss the wider region. The Chiefs of Defence also will discuss the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and NATO’s role in Iraq during 2018. Meetings with partners Ukraine and Georgia will focus on the security situations on the ground, defence reform progress and the way ahead. The Chiefs of Defence will also be informed and debate the proposed recommendations for the NATO Command
