Soldiers with the 1st Squadron, 152 Cavalry Regiment conducted a Spur Ride at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in North Vernon, Indiana on Nov. 4, 2017. The tradition of earning your spurs dates back to the beginning of the American cavalry when new troopers were not allowed to wear spurs because they may misuse or overuse them, injuring the horse. Only when they were able to prove their ability to perform with their horse and saber were they awarded spurs.
Target audience:
- Soldiers seeking to participate in a spur ride
- Enlistees interested in the history of the cavalry
