Command Sergeant Major Leonard H. Ventura relinquished responsibility of the Hawaii Army National Guard to Command Sergeant Major Elva A. Schaben during a change of responsibility ceremony at the 29th Infantry Brigade Readiness Center in Kapolei on November 4, 2017.
Command Sergeant Major Ventura became the Command Sergeant Major of the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2015. He also served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 29th Infantry Brigade. He will be retiring from the military later this year.
For Command Sergeant Major Elva A. Schaben, she became the Executive Assistant to the Hawaii Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major back in October 2016.
She is now the second woman to become the Command Sergeant Major of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
