    Video by Thomas Moore

    U.S. Army Reserve Command

Local Army Reserve soldiers from Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico help fellow citizens by clearing roads from the debris left by Hurricane Maria. This will allow access for much needed supplies.

    Spanish to English translation:
Maria M. Fred Muniz, Las Marias, Puerto Rico. 71 years old.
    Everything is a disaster.
I am very thankful that they are finally starting to clear up the area that we pass through almost every day. I feel very grateful for their kindness and because they are doing the work and until they are finished we hope that we will be able to use that road without any danger and feeling of nervousness. We get very nervous when we have to use that road.
It has been very difficult to get food and water, if my husband didn’t have this small pickup we wouldn’t be able to look for water. We have to get to Añasco to get some water. As of yet we are not able to get potable water anywhere near us.
I am very happy that you are here I feel like we have someone that is paying attention to us now. As of yet we have not had anyone come by with commodities like food, water or ice. There was one day that we did receive some food. They brought from El Meson. There was also a military truck from Las Maria municipality that brought some food and we received a case of water. I truly appreciate it because in the situation that we are currently live in, we appreciate whatever we can get. I appreciate the U.S. Army that has come to give us the help that we truly need. I also have a son that is in the military, he is in the Navy and about to retire. We have always been grateful.
