Idaho Army National Guard, State CSM Richard Elgan, speaks about Suicide Awareness.
Through life and military service, we have to rely on each other and be that person who speaks up.This applies to everything from suicide concerns to helping a buddy in your platoon move into their new home. Keep an eye out for those who may have experienced a recent loss, whether it be a death, loss of a job, relationship, whatever.
Sometimes these losses can make someone feel alone or as if they are a burden to others. Ask them honestly how they are feeling about what is going on in their lives.
If you feel like they would benefit from talking to someone about it, chances are your gut is probably right. Behavioral Health teams can support you or anyone through those times. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
