Operating out of the Orange County Convention Center, Citizen Airmen Reservists from the 920th Rescue Wing gave Col. Dave Garfield, commander, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Miami, Florida, a ride home to the 482nd Fighter Wing to get his F-16 Falcon wing up and running September 11; afterward the Airmen took off on search-and-rescue missions over South Florida after Hurricane Irma ripped through the sunshine state. Dedicated 920th maintenance Airmen stayed with the HH-60 Pavehawk helicopters throughout the storm and prepped them for takeoff from the OCCC parking lot as a temporary airstrip.
