Staff Sgt. Tasheenia (Tuh-sheen-uh) L. Wallace made history for the Arkansas National Guard when she graduated from the Infantry Transition Course (ITC), a two week residency training program, at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, Ark. on July 26.

ITC is a course that allows Soldiers who are already serving to change their current Military Occupational Specialty to infantry.

Two females attended the infantry school; however, Wallace was the only female to graduate from the program.

The Department of Defense began the formal process to allow women to serve combat arms job positions, such as infantry, in Jan. 2013.

Wallace now holds four different Military Occupational Specialties, with infantry being her newest.
