INDIANAPOLIS - Approximately 100 Indiana National Guard soldiers with the 38th Infantry Division's combat aviation brigade, headquartered in Shelbyville, returned Wednesday to the Hoosier State after a 9-month overseas deployment.
The Indiana Guardsmen deployed in September to the Balkans in support of Kosovo Force where they provided stability and air support operations in the NATO-led mission.
Indiana Army National Guard Lt. Col. Larry Muennich, of Louisville, Kentucky, led the aviation troops, and his senior-enlisted adviser was Command Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Mobley, of Greensburg, Indiana.
The unit's soldiers flew approximately 2,000 hours in more than 300 air support missions and flew more than 4,700 passengers while overseas.
