Environmental officers are working to ensure pristine areas of the Queensland Coast alongside the Shoalwater Bay Training Area aren’t negatively impacted by Exercise Talisman Saber 17.
Now in its seventh iteration, the Talisman Saber series of exercises is the principal Australian and US military training activity focused on the planning and conduct of mid-intensity “high end” war fighting in the air, land and maritime domains.
TS 17 incorporates force preparation activities, Special Forces activities, amphibious landings, parachuting, land force manoeuvre, urban operations, air operations, maritime operations and a number of live fire components. It is designed to practice Australian and US combined operations, demonstrating the allies' interoperability and preparedness to deliver a military response.
