On 24 April 2017, Lt. Col. (Ret) Sam Galloway and Lt. Col. (Ret) Russ Tharp visited Cannon Air Force Base to talk about Operation Eagle Claw. Operation Eagle Claw was an operation to retrieve American hostages from the US Embassy in Tehran, Iran on April 24, 1980. Galloway and Tharp talk about the mission and the events leading up to the failed operation to retrieve the hostages.
