District of Columbia National Guard State Equal Employment Manager’s office hosts Diversity Observance to address the importance of embracing, achieving and valuing diversity. Guest speaker was retired Brig. Gen. Julia J. Cleckley. She spoke about “the good, the bad and the challenges of rising from an E1 to an O7 as an African American and as a woman,” she’s encouraging military leaders to address diversity within their commands and units.
