1st Infantry Division Equal Opportunity Office sponsored an observance of National Women's History Month on 15 March 2017. The guest speaker was Mrs Phyllis Fitzgerald, Mayor of Junction City, Kansas, who was also a 1st Infantry Division veteran of Operation Desert Storm. A token of appreciation was presented to Mrs. Fitzgerald by Fort Riley Acting Senior Commander, Brig. Gen. Patrick Frank. A musical tribute to women was performed by the 1st Infantry Division Band Jazz Combo.
