More than a hundred military and civilian community members met at the City of Jacksonville Center for Public Safety Wednesday morning to discuss areas of mutual interest as part of Marine Corps Installations Partnership Program.
The vision of the program is to initiate and develop mutually beneficial partnerships between local commands and their communities in order to reduce operating costs, diminish risks, and enhance community relationships.
Some examples of successful partnerships formed in the past have included shared disaster recovery resources, bulk purchase construction materials, maintenance services, workforce training and certification, and shared water and wastewater treatment.
Wednesday's meeting allowed civilian and military stakeholders to introduce themselves and facilitated brainstorming sessions to determine where shared equities could be realized.
A future meeting scheduled March 28 will allow newly-formed working groups to identify potential partnership initiatives and strategize how to pursue those partnerships with the goal of eventually drafting mutually beneficial agreements.
