JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – U.S. Coast Guard crews rescued four fishermen Sunday after their vessel sank near the St. John’s River inlet.

Three fishermen swam to the nearby jetty and one was picked up by a good Samaritan.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville watch standers received notification over VHF radio that a 15-foot fishing vessel with four fishermen aboard suddenly sank at approximately 10:30 a.m. A Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat – Medium crew, from Station Mayport, was in the area and arrived on scene within 5 minutes. The RBM crew located the three fishermen on the jetty and guided another Coast Guard 29-foot rescue boat in to rescue the fisherman.

The fishermen were transported to Mayport Boat Ramp and were reported to be in good condition.
