U.S. Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) conducted close air support training with their Japanese counterpart during Exercise Keen Sword 17 on the JS Ohsumi, Nov. 7 2016, and the island of Tinian, Nov. 8 2016. Keen Sword is the largest joint, bilateral field training exercise between the U.S. military and Japanese Defense Forces (JSDF). The exercise is the designed to increase combat readiness and interoperability within the framework of the U.S.-Japan alliance.
