Soldiers of the 119th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment left their home state of Arkansas on Sunday, after having a send-off ceremony at Fisher Armory, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, with their final destination being Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The public affairs unit, which is comprised primarily of photo and broadcast journalists, will first stop at Fort Hood, Texas, where they will receive additional training and information pertinent to their assigned duties in Cuba.
The 119th will support operations of Joint Task Force Guantanamo by providing media relations support and various other public relations tasks.
Aside from individual Soldier or team mobilizations, this will be the first main body deployment that the unit has been sent on since the unit received its own designation as the 119th MPAD.
