    Joint Base Charleston

The damage of Hurricane Matthew is still being dealt with along the east coast, with much debris littering populated areas, but not all debris is created equal. On Oct. 9th, 2016, Airmen from the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight dealt with disposing of several Civil War-era cannonballs that washed ashore at Folly Beach by the powerful currents of the storm. These technicians used their expertise to ensure some of the cannonballs were properly disposed of at the scene, while the rest were transported to Joint Base Charleston for examination.
