Marines and Sailors participating in Exercise Valiant Shield 16 spend time with residents of Tinian to get to know the community, Sept. 16, 2016. They started off their day playing sports at Tinian High School. The service members spent the second part of their day at the local amphitheater showing static displays of different tools they use in the field. VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This training enables real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace in response to a range of mission areas.
