Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211 F-35Bs Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters, based at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, participated in the Weapons System Evaluations Program conducted by the 83rd Fighter Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. After only standing up the squadron a little more than two months ago, VMFA-211 became the first operational F-35 squadron to shoot an air-to-air missile during the training exercise. VMFA-211 shot two AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air missiles during the WSEP. Four F-35Bs participated in the exercise along with F-22 Raptors, F-16 Talons, and F-15 Eagles.
