A-Roll: 2017 Alaska Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition; Soundbites(0:00-0:41) Master Sgt. Justin Shaffer, 207th Multi-Functional Training Regiment, operations noncommissioned officer (0:41-1:11) Sgt. Nathan Williams, Alpha Company, 49th Missile Defense Battalion (Ground-based Midcourse Defense), competitor; Ten Soldiers from across the state compete in the Alaska Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition to earn a spot as either the Soldier or Noncommissioned Officer of the Year at a variety of training locations on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Sept. 8-10, 2016. The Guardsmen competed through a series of 15 events designed to test the physical and mental toughness of Soldiers. The winners will continue on to represent Alaska in the Northwest Regional Best Warrior Competition scheduled for May 2017.
