The 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, KS, held an observance of Women's Equality Day on 17 August 2016. The event, sponsored by the 1st infantry Division Equal Opportunity Program, commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, giving women the right to vote. The observance was held at Riley's Conference Center. Guest speaker was Lt. Colonel Julie A. Maxwell, of the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade. A musical tribute to women was also offered by the 1st Infantry Division Band.
