The national Kuwait hockey team hosted the inaugural Desert Classic Hockey Game. The local team competed in a three game elimination with teams made of members of the 682nd Engineer Battalion, Minnesota National Guard.
Game one was between the White Knights and the Blue Line (both Army teams). At the end of two 20 minute periods both teams were tied at five. After an overtime shootout, it was the Blue Line that would eventually win, 6 to 5.
Game two was between the Crimson Tide (an Army team) and the Kuwait National Hockey team. After two 20 minute periods, the Kuwait team would shut out the Tide 8 to 0.
The winners of both games would face off in a final “championship game. At the end of the first period, the Kuwait team lead the Blue Line 11 to 0. By the end of the second period, the Kuwait team would be victorious with their second shutout of the night and a final score of 15 to 0.
